The First Ladies commit to an inclusive world
Charity actions, parade, merry making, discovery and brain storming. Such are the many activities that marked the First Ladies’ Week from 1st to 8th March 2023.
At Afriland First Bank, the female staff fondly referred to as First Ladies have always done things the right way. On 3 March, they opened their Week with a panel discussion on the theme: “Digital Women: Challenges and Opportunities for a Digital and Inclusive World”. The panellists (Kelly Motue, Gabriel Oyono, Christine Evina) under the moderation of André Nkengfack drilled the audience on the opportunities and risks involved in social network exposure.
On the morning of Saturday 4 March, they went on a business visit to PAFIC Industrie where they had the opportunity to discover the unit’s operating process and manufacturing chain of products such as soap, table oil, mineral water, etc. In the afternoon, they went to the Yaoundé Kondengui central prison to commune with women detainees, providing them food items, medication kits for first aid and childbirth, as well as sanitary and hygiene supplies.
The Week continued on Sunday 05 March 2023 with a football encounter (popularly known as 2.0) during which the First Ladies enjoyed the health benefits derived from physical activity. On Monday 7 March, an impressive cultural event was organised at the backyard of Afriland First Bank’s Headquarters building in Yaoundé, where women showcased their artistic talents: songs, dance, magic tricks, sketches, poems, quizzes and a fashion parade. On 8 March, the First Ladies joined other women for a march past at the 20th May Boulevard, wearing their glowing dresses and red scarves, before closing the Week in style with a gala evening full of entertainment.
