After defending his PHD thesis at Université de Strasbourg in 1979, Adam Madji taught monetary economics and economic analysis at the University of Chad and the University of Bangui (CAR).

He then spent 20 years in bank regulation, first as the National Director of BEAC Chad from 1984 to 1994 and later as General Secretary of the Central African Banking Commission from 1994 to 2004, before heading the legislative bodies of several commercial banks. He has to his credit, major publications such as L’agrément unique  en zone CEMAC, Un défi majeur pour les banques de la zone, La restructuration bancaire en zone CEMAC and Evaluation de la situation financière de  la Banque agricole et commerciale. Adam Madji is Knight of the National Order of Chad and Commander of the Order of CEMAC.
